Household debt in the USA is now over 2 TRILLION dollars. 9 million people went to debt counseling last year. We know pentions are gone and Social Security will cost more and give less. Personal bankruptcy is at an all time high. While our senior citizens are living longer, many more of them are living in poverty. More university students are lost to credit card debt than to academic failure.
At the same time there are new, powerful financial tools and economic opportunities that can eliminate poverty for most Americans in one or two generations. The issues are education to understand the opportunities, guidance as issues arise and motivating people to take action. What parents would not want to guarantee a comfortable retirement for their children? The answer is now simple but unless the children and the parents are aware and take action, the opportunity will be lost. The solution is not magic, it will take work and lots of time, but watching from the sidelines will only get you a stiff neck.

This program was started by a corporate finance consultant; it is supported by local businesses and financial instituitions, and taught in schools by financial professionals. There are financial tools available today that can totally change the lives of our children, if they can understand a few basic things. We need to teach them now.
More than the information content of the classes, the presentation is the critical part. It is not the data presented but the attitude created. If we can inspire them to act, and teach them they can have personal ownership of their financial future, they will find the opportunities that work for them.
