Example #3

I am Lowell George Apartment C, 54 Dixie Chicken Drive in Southboro I am in Mr. Barrere’s class in the Neary school.

There is a place that lets you pick things in the summer and I want to pick strawberries and make them into jam and them I can sell the jam. I will save all the money I make from the jam because I get an allowance for stuff now. I can make $250.

UPDATE: My mom says I have to buy the jars and stuff. She said she would lend me the money but that I needed to tell you. She gets jars and stuff to make her jam so she knows where to get things.

ADDITIONAL UPDATE: My friends say they will help me so I think I can get a lot more.

LATER UPDATE: My mom says I need to wait to sell them at Christmas but I need to have my savings counted by October 1. What should I do?

Dear Lowell, We agree with your mom that Christmas would be a good time to sell your jam. We would suggest selling 10 jars as soon as you can, which will establish the price and if you can sell them. Then count how many jars you have to sell at Christmas and we will credit you with that amount as of October 1st. If you sell some early, you are likely to be able to sell those same people more at Christmas, if it is good jam. EES, Inc

VERY LATE UPDATE: I sold 10 jars for $5 each, except one jar that fell and broke. My cost to make each jar was $1.14 and made $33.60 in profit. I have 83 jars left to sell at Christmas. My sister wants to wrap them in fancy paper.
